I have to say, I was skeptical that these four games could live up to the hype, especially after last weekend. But I’m happy to say I wasn’t disappointed in the slightest. I even gave myself a cushy lead for later poor postseason predictions. But I’ll tell you about that later. Right now it’s time for The Final Drive of the Divisional Round!

NY Giants beat Green Bay on the road, 37-20 in a playoff upset on Sunday. The Packers looked shaky, out of sync, and confused. Aaron Rodgers didn't play like he usually does. I couldn't believe the amount of dropped balls the Packers had. Wide open passes at times, just dropped. They never got into their fast paced mode and their defense was "matator D". The Pack looked ordinary tonight, and the Giants played with precision, heart, and intensity. The Giants won the game. This game was the upset of the playoffs so far.

I'll tell ya, after seeing Eli Manning throw a prayer to the end zone, and Hakeem Nicks grabbing the ball deep for a TD, the Pack has no defense. Where is the rush, where are the bruising hits? Manning has all the time in the world. He can sort his laundry back there. No wonder he has over 245 yards passing in the first half. And, that's a guesstimate. it could be more. The Giants lead at the half, 20-10, and a game that Packer fans thought was theirs is suddenly up in the air.

It was closer than it should have been for longer than it should have been, but it ended just as it should have as the Bears lost in Green Bay and ended their hopes for a playoff berth in fitting fashion. Josh McCown mounted a valiant effort, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Aaron Rodgers’ five touchdowns.

I'd like to see the Chicago Bears give the Green Bay Packers a game tonight. I don't know if that is going to happen.
There are too many vulnerable spots for Chicago. One Josh McCown, is making his first start as a Bear at QB. Two, Kahlil Bell is making a start and he is practically a rookie. I think what may keep Chicago in the game is that these two teams are arch-rivals. The Bears will be fired up. I hope they will surprise some people tonight. I think Chicago will play The Pack tough to start, but Green Bay's talent will eventually wear the Bears out. It could be 31-10.

I’m not sure what else you could have wanted from week 15 in the NFL. Two impressive streaks ended, the “Trap of the Week” proved to be true once again and one win never mattered as much as it did for Indianapolis. (And Candlestick Park was sans light… for a few second before auxiliary lighting come on. Not as much drama.) Many a-loser won on this day. Oddsmakers be damned! Get ready for The Final Drive!

After the Big Ben-flavored drama on Thursday night, week 14 in the NFL season keeps on trucking in Sunday’s slate of games. While some will take a first glance at most of the games and shrug them off as meaningless, there are some hidden contests that could be much better than fans may expect. Plenty of options for “Trap of the Week.”

The Chicago Bears lost to the Green Bay Packers 27-17 at home today. The offense sputtered. The rushing game was virtually non-existant. The Bears gained a paltry 13 years on 11 carries. Where is Rick Caseras when you need him? He was a vintage fullback who could have dragged two players with him. The Bears don't have that kind of player. The Bears don't have a competant offensive line which can protect Jay Cutler or block the run.

It wasn’t as consistently ugly as one might have expected, but the better team won as the Packers trounced the Bears at Soldier Field Sunday afternoon. Aaron Rodgers was surgical in his delivery, hitting tight end Jermichael Finley for three touchdowns en route to the 27-17 victory. It was a sloppy game for both sides, with penalties and turnovers a’plenty.

Oh prop pets. How I love thee. Honestly, could there be any more inane and luck-filled practice than the time-honored tradition of Super Bowl prop bets?
For those of you who aren’t familiar, proposition bets (or prop bets, batch) are simply side bets. So instead of betting on the outcome, you’ll bet on which team scores first, who is the game’s MVP, or even what color the Gatorade dumped on a coach will be. Here are some of my favorite prop bets I’ve seen for Super Bowl XLV.

When the Green Bay Packers started the season as everyone and their mother’s pick to be in the Super Bowl, it had that “Kiss of Death” feel to it. In winter's chill, the Green Bay Packers fought back a late Chicago Bears rally and won the NFC championship game, 21-14 on Sunday. In a football game that felt like it had games within games, the Bears looked over-matched on the verge of being blown out, trailing 14-0 at half-time. But, the Bears defense rose up and gave Chicago a chance to win the game. Green Bay gained most of its 350 yards in the first half, and gained only 105 yards in the second half. The Bears, meanwhile, rallied behind a gutty performance by Caleb Hanie, a third string QB, who saw limited action this season. Hanie drove the team down the field and threw a TD pass to Earl Bennett to make a 21-14 game with about 4:50 to play. The Bears got the ball back but Hanie was intercepted by Green Bay as the Bears were driving to score.

The Chicago Bears answered the bell on Sunday in Soldier Field in their playoff game against the Seahawks.
There was no fooling around, no starts and sputters, no mistakes. The Bears struck on Jay Cutler's first playoff pass, a beautifully thrown ball to Greg Olsen who scampered 58 yards to pay dirt, 3 minutes into the game. The Patriots haven’t lost to the New York Jets in the playoffs. I did not know that. N.E. is 2-0 thanks to a 26-14 win back in 1985 and a 37-16 blasting in 2007. Naturally these results have no bearing on what happens on Sunday, but I find these facts interesting.

It's the last game of the 2010 regular season for the Chicago Bears, and it's fitting that it comes against their long-time rival Green Bay Packers. Despite all the history, this game will be meaningless to the Bears by the time kick-off rolls around. With the Falcons up huge on the Panthers during this writing, the Bears would be locked into the number two seed in the NFC with nowhere to go. So should they play to win?

There is a lot riding on the Chicago Bears - Green Bay Packers game on Sunday. If the Bears win, they could possibly end up top seed in the NFC. And, who would have thought that a month ago? If the Packers emerge victorious, they will make the playoffs as a wild card. All of this against the backdrop of one of longest and bitter of rvials square off. The Chicago Bears won the 5th straight game in a see-saw contest over the Detroit Lions, 24-20. Bears QB Jay Cutler was 21-26 with over 200 yards and a 4th quarter TD pass to star for the Bears. The Bears had just enough to get by a stubborn Lions team that started Drew Stanton, the third string QB. Chicago has a 9-3 record and holds a game lead over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North Division.

If the game ended at halftime, the Patriots would had lost to Miami. And fans would blame one person for that: Cameron Wake.
The OLB was terrorizing Brady in the first half. He consistently beat his blocker, using speed, brute strength, some spin moves, and a non-stop motor. He got pressure a handful of times and even got a sack. The former two-time Canadian Football League Defensive Player of the Year in 2007 and 2008 was nearly unstoppable.

I woke up Tuesday morning and the Bears are still 3-0. The Bears played well enough to beat a good team. Most likely the Packers will regroup and find themselves in the playoff hunt before long. I thilnk Steve Young of ESPN said it wisely when he thought the Bears "were a year behind the Packers." It doesn't mean the Bears are not good, just the Packers are really good and they had a bad night.

The Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers 20-17 at Soldier Field and yes, the Bears are 3-0 this season.
The Bears won because unlike Green Bay, they didn't make 17 penalties, and Devin Hester's brilliant punt return in the 4th quarter was as good as a Jay Cutler bomb. Hester flat out outran the Green Bay defenders on his way to a 62 yard score which electrified the Bears' faithful. We've been waiting for Hester to pull one off and he did it.

With less than five hours before free agency begins, let me get a few thoughts out of my mind:
Be sure to sign the Leigh Bodden thank-you card. He’s not coming back. He’s the second-best corner back available in free agency after Houston’s Dunta Robinson. It shouldn’t take him long to find an offer that he can’t pass up. His gamble to sign a one year deal with a promise from the Patriots that they wouldn’t franchise him will pay off. He erased his years with Detroit, including the 0-16 season, from everyone’s mind. Wish you luck at your next career stop, Leigh, as long as it’s not with an AFC East team.

Why is it that recent late-season meetings between the Bears and Packers hold little to no significance? Oh wait, I remember now. Because one of these teams decides to be out of it by week ten. This year its the Bears' turn. Each squad has gone through their own specific roller-coaster rides, but while the Bears have been on the The Whizzer and are in the midst of projectile vomiting, the Green Bay Packers have ridden Batman: The Ride six times and are ready for more. Well, I have neglected this blog all year, but I had some free time today, so I figured I'd add a new post. The first two weeks of the NFL season have been pretty good, with the stupid Hail Mary from the Broncos to win week 1 (gosh I hate watching the highlights of that play) to the great game between Dallas and the NYG last week in the Texas palace. But the thing that has me the most excited is the Bengals' defense. They played hard all preseason, did really well agaianst Denver, minus that stupid Hail Mary, and recorded 6 sacks on Aaron Rodgers last week. This defense finished 15th last year and I feel they are well on their way to being a top 10 unit. With Odom healthy, it's easy to see why Cincy shelled out so much money for him last offseason. He has 7 sacks on the season (which leads the NFL) and works really well on third downs with Geathers on one end, Michael Johnson on the other, and Odom inside. This combo causes a lot of problems for the offenses and I feel that it will again this week against Pittsburgh.

A positively putrid performance was put on by the Chicago Bears offense in what ended up being a defensive battle. Like it goes in the NFL, the quarterback is going to get most of the blame. Jay Cutler threw four interceptions in Chicago’s 21-15 loss to the rival Green Bay Packers Sunday night.

Maybe you didn’t hear the NFL kicked off its season last night. Maybe you didn’t know the Chicago Bears are headed to Lambeau Field to play the Packers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. What I’m pretty sure you heard is that Jay Cutler is a Chicago Bear.

Greg Paulus made his debut as a collegiate quarterback Saturday for Syracuse University and the former Duke University point guard nearly led the Orange to an upset win over the University of Minnesota before the Golden Gophers escaped the Carrier Dome with a 23-20 victory in overtime.

If you were watching last night’s Bears 26-23 preseason victory over the Browns trying to catch a glimpse of your favorite Bears, I hope you didn’t blink.
After a Zack Bowman interception on the first play from scrimmage, Jay Cutler took the field and handed off to back-up running back Kevin Jones six times, leading to a Robbie Gould field goal. Matt Forte didn't even play. After those first seven plays, it was scrub time.

Boy, this Brett Favre character really knows how to play with a man's heart. He's there, he's not, he's back, he's not, he's done for good.. PSYCH! He really isn't done, NOT! He is done! Today is opposite day, he's back! This is a legendary performance and my man, Brett, hasn't even taken the field yet. I'm so psyched; my friend called me that day.. and all I could think was they're baaaa-ack. Except instead of zombies, it was DB's screaming.

Well, the Brett Favre saga appears to be over… for now.
The routinely flip-flopping quarterback informed ESPN’s Ed Werder of his decision to stay retired after telling Brad Childress of the Minnesota Vikings. Favre explained that he was unsure of his body’s ability to withstand another grueling NFL season and the training camp and preseason schedule that accompany it.

Well, that's disappointing. I've gotten a few Packers fans all riled up with my Favre and Away post and now he's staying retired.. OR so he says. Muuuahahah. I hope this isn't over, I can't get enough of this story.. it's so much better than the Michael Jackson coverage. Brett has done more, and if you don't think so.. you're wrong. Michael Jackson doesn't have a prayer after him I bet.. Brett does. It's no big deal, that's just who he is and why he will be missed.

ESPN has an unknown segment on nearly every edition of Sportscenter called "The Favre Watch," which chronicles the ins and outs of Brett Favre's possible return to the NFL. In Wisconsin, the fans don't even need ESPN because whether they are out camping or on the golf course having a few beers the Favre story finds them. Inevitably, it throws off their golf game as they miss an easy putt or break their wedge in the sand and somehow it's Favre's fault. And you know what? I am sick and tired of all of this "Brett is losing a fan here" talk because Brett Favre doesn't care if you're not his fan anymore. His only mission right now is to come back and stick it to Ted Thompson. The same Ted Thompson that ran him out of Green Bay, the same Ted Thompson that wanted to put his mark on the roster.. the same Ted Thompson that has shrewdly put together an impressive roster.. so darn impressive that Green Bay rattled off 6 wins last year. (I know, Favre can't stop the run.. Favre can't stop the pass.. Favre's not giving up 30 points a game.. Favre once won 4 games in a season.. but they were coming off a 13 win season.)

I am not sure it is possible, but Brett Favre needs to find the most desolate place in Mississippi and hide. Although I believe he is already past this stage, he needs to read Damage Control for Dummies

Today wasn’t anything particularly special. I woke up at 8:00a.m., a full hour after my alarm went off, not awesome. Turned on the TV to see more Brett Favre. His face, his grizzle and red jersey. It seems that all the footage of Brett playing in Packer colors has been wiped off the face of the earth.

Brett Favre where do we begin. This is an open letter to you and all of your concerns. Stop you incessant pursuit to dominate your old team. It isn’t likable, pretty or even expected that a man of caliber would stoop to such depths. No playing campaign with the Minnesota Vikings will validate your 16 year career with the Green Bay Packers. Unless you join the Vikings and go undefeated for the next two seasons, the Packers are never going to believe they made the wrong decision.

Does anyone believe the Minnesota Vikings wouldn't be better with Brett Favre? Of course some do but I don't, his pre-madonna motivation to reign the Vikings to a Superbowl simply to spite his former GM is going to carry him far enough. That type of attitude isn't for the Vikings. We need a team made of selfless leaders and selfish role players. Our Quarterback Tavaris Jackson needs to simply develop himself as a passer, stop trying to be a runner, and become a leader. Our wide receivers need to stop being scared and get hungry. The fear of being hit isn't enough for them to run fast, the motivation should be the touchdown. The end zone dance should be their highlight.

Shaq and Kobe “Had a Good Time” with Each Other
Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O’Neal and Los Angles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant begrudgingly shared co-MVP awards at the All-Star game this past Valentine’s Day weekend as the Western Conference dominated the East 146-119 at the US Airways Center in Arizona.

As the draft approaches, it's obvious that the Patriots need an outside linebacker that can effectively rush the quarterback and maybe another cornerback to add to the competition between Ellis Hobbs, Jonathan Wilhite, and Terrence Wheatley. Finding the kind of LB that would fit in New England will be tougher this year.

Brett Lorenzo Favre, the beloved gunslinger from Southern Mississippi who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons, made his first pass completion on his way to prominence as a Packer to himself and adorned a New York Jets uniform in his final season, announced his retirement yesterday…again.

Here we go again.
The Super Bowl is around the corner, conference play is heating up in college basketball and Punxsutawney Phil is testing my patience by even thinking about seeing his fat little shadow. What, it’s 15 flippin’ degrees outside and I live in Tennessee! I’m cold!

Well, that's it. The Patriots did what they needed to do Sunday, but it just didn't happen. That's why every team should handle their business on their own and don't leave the job for a third party to complete.

So, there's this Oakland County, Michigan law enforcement officer who's a professional acquaintance of mine. Nice guy, former Marine. Definitely not a guy you'd want to mess with. "James" has a friend who works in the Detroit Lions front office. Here's what the friend told James: a few years ago, the Lions contacted Bill Parcells about coaching the Detroit Lions. After all, who better to resurrect the toothless Lions than the Big Tuna? After all, Parcells has won two Super Bowls as a coach, went to a third and very nearly took the New York Jets there.

First weekend I missed games that I usually would of not picked........That's why I bet with my head not my heart. I usually do not pick the Eagles game because I will more then likly take the Eagles. This weekend I broke the cardinal rule and had two lost because of it. I also picked the Viking to not fumble it over to the Falcons. I nailed my Elimination pick of the Saints....I also had my upset game of the week Chargers.......I won the holiday pick but it was not a cover for my Vegas friends. Seeing they won by one.
