I am not sure it is possible, but Brett Favre needs to find the most desolate place in Mississippi and hide. Although I believe he is already past this stage, he needs to read Damage Control for Dummies

Today wasn’t anything particularly special.  I woke up at 8:00a.m., a full hour after my alarm went off, not awesome.  Turned on the TV to see more Brett Favre.  His face, his grizzle and red jersey.  It seems that all the footage of Brett playing in Packer colors has been wiped off the face of the earth.

Brett Favre where do we begin.  This is an open letter to you and all of your concerns.  Stop you incessant pursuit to dominate your old team.  It isn’t likable, pretty or even expected that a man of caliber would stoop to such depths.  No playing campaign with the Minnesota Vikings will validate your 16 year career with the Green Bay Packers.  Unless you join the Vikings and go undefeated for the next two seasons, the Packers are never going to believe they made the wrong decision.

Does anyone believe the Minnesota Vikings wouldn't be better with Brett Favre?  Of course some do but I don't, his pre-madonna motivation to reign the Vikings to a Superbowl simply to spite his former GM is going to carry him far enough.  That type of attitude isn't for the Vikings.  We need a team made of selfless leaders and selfish role players.  Our Quarterback Tavaris Jackson needs to simply develop himself as a passer, stop trying to be a runner, and become a leader.  Our wide receivers need to stop being scared and get hungry.  The fear of being hit isn't enough for them to run fast, the motivation should be the touchdown.  The end zone dance should be their highlight.

When the Patriots picked up Randy Moss, Wes Welker, and Donte Stallworth in the off-season I predicted 19-0. After the spy gate incident I felt even more confident about an undefeated season. What happened then? The Patriots steam rolled teams around the league on their way to smashing records including the first ever 16-0 regular season.

I understand that football's a rough game, I played it. But damn, can anyone that's good at it stay healthy? Take a look at the players missing this year's pro bowl, it looks like the 2015-2020 Hall of Fame inductions.

Yes I'll admit it, the 2007 New England Patriots season has to qualify as the most disappointing in team history. Back when the Pats stunk you couldn't really be disappointed, you had to expect them to end the season with a loss. I don't think the loss to the Green Bay Packers in 1996 was more than a blip on my Boston Sports Misery Index. We were just happy to not get blown out like we did against the Chicago Bears ten years earlier. But after three Super Bowls your expectations change. Especially when you're playing a team that you've already beaten in the regular season. So yes, this 2007 season goes down as a disappointment in terms of the ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl. But what positives can we take as we start to pick up the pieces and refocus on 2008?

So we are more than a week away from the best day of the year, Super Bowl Sunday, and I'm already tired of the hype. I normally try to avoid much sports news in the two weeks from the AFC and NFC Championship games till Super Sunday, but with the writers' strike taking away any normal scripted tv shows all that is left is horrid reality tv shows/game shows and repeated sports news stories over and over again.

It wasn't pretty. It wasn't a blowout. But in the end the New England Patriots got key contributions from some of their biggest question marks this season and defeated the San Diego Chargers to advance to the Super Bowl. Let's start with the Defense. All year the pundits said the Patriots were vulnerable on D and for much of the season they ranked near the bottom of the league in red zone defense. However yesterday the Pats D, led by an ageless Junior Seau, held the Chargers to just four field goals on the day, stopping them three times inside the 20-yard line. Yet again they held the oppositions running game in check which should finally put to rest any argument that the Pats can be run on. The last time they let someone rush for 100-yards was against the Steelers on December 9th. Yet again the Defense has stepped it up late in the season and is playing championship football. They are by no means the weak link on this team.

It’s a sad day in Packerland.

There’s been a lot of talk about Brett and that interception, but I don’t blame him.  He doesn’t win the games alone and he doesn’t lose them alone.

One overriding topic of conversation this week in Packer Country has been the bone-chilling forecast for Sunday's NFC Championship battle with the New York Giants. Historically, the uglier the weather, the greater the Packers' success stories. Like following last Saturday's defeat of the Seahawks, Packer players claimed they enjoyed the experience of playing in the snow, quipping it was "fun". And Coach McCarthy is not so much concerned about the frigid temps as the wind factor (but this time he probably won't need to worry, since the game will be played after sunset, when winds theoretically should have died down).

Welp this is it, the last football weekend before the endless hype of the Super Bowl. Personally I find the conference championships to be much more enjoyable to watch than the actually Super Bowl. They are played at a team's homefield, in front of their fans, often in difficult weather conditions. The Super Bowl on the other hand is more like an exhibition game. It's a neutral site, usually in a dome and the real fans of the teams playing are most often stuck up in the 300s. Sure, the Super Bowl gets all the glory, but the conference championships are for the real fans. And, as it's been for most of this decade, the AFC Championship has been the real Super Bowl anyway. On to my picks...

Longtime fans will recall the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants have quite a NFL championship game history.

In 1938, the Giants won 23-17 at the Polo Grounds in New York. The Giants turned two blocked punts into 10 points, but the Packers rallied on Arnie Herber’s 50-yard touchdown pass to Carl Mulleneaux and Clarke Hinkle’s 6-yard TD run to take a 17-16 lead in the third quarter. Ed Danowski hit Hank Soar for the winning TD.

After watching Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers kick the Seattle Seahawks to the curb in a snowstorm it makes you wonder if this Packers team could actually beat New England. Now these upstart Packers are young, but they have a General who leads them into battle and his name is Brett Favre. Every now and than you can see the battle scars on him, but like any good General he leads the troops to victory. Favre is this kind of leader.

Well, the Divisional playoffs are upoon us and I thought I'd tell you what will happen so you won't have to watch.

First up is Seattle and Green Bay, and a lot is being made about the weather being a big factor.  Well, I think it will be a factor for both teams, because, Ryan Grant's late season success notwithstanding, I think both teams will have to fling it.  I think Seattle has been playing well enough to habg close in here, and if you're looking for an upset this weekend, look no further.  (Don't let my Viking affiliation make you think I'm biased here.  Would it amuse me to see Mike Homgren getting the Gatorade shower in Lambeau?  OK, maybe just a little.)

The future of Green Bay Packers quarterback is in the news again, thanks to a story by his good friend Al Jones of the Sun Herald in Biloxi, Miss.

"Each week, I bring more stress on myself wondering if this is too good to be true," Favre told the Sun Herald. "I want to continue the streak and winning. When I talk about the streak, it's not the (consecutive) starts; it's the hot streak we are on. Then, I ask what can I do better?

"Each one of them (Bears' quarterbacks) played good football at some point in time." That from Chicago Bear's General Manager Jerry Angelo a few days ago.

Yeah Jerr, Grossman threw for 4 TDs and 7 interceptions, Griese had 10 TDs and 12 interceptions, while Orton topped the TD to interception ratio with 3 TDs and 2 interceptions. And the highest rating among them? Griese with a - wait for it - 75.6!! Wow! Alright Jerr. Yeah, we can see what you're saying.

NFL Playoffs!? That can only mean one thing – bandwagon season! Now that my team #1 and #2 are done for the season, its time to jump on the way only a true NFL football fan can.

My Tampa Bay Buccaneers played an exceptional first quarter today and then decided to fall asleep on me. Too bad the game has four quarters! Argh! I really thought they could make something happen this year. My #1 team(s) the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders never even made it to the playoffs - so the time has come for auxiliary cheering methods – jump on the bandwagon! I have planned out who I will be rooting for next week for sure (remaining season afterward to be determined):

Know one thing I appreciate about being a Packer fan?

No half-dressed slutty girls OOPS I MEAN cheerleaders on the sidelines.

It’s not because I’m a gal and don’t want to see other gals shake their junk.  In fact, it’s fine that other teams have the cheerleaders/dancers/scantily dressed babes shaking their good for the world to see.  But I don’t want that for the Packers.

Did you guys see the ref pull Nick Barnett off of the pile last week when the Packers played the Bears?  Well that ref got fined over $8,000 for “choking” Barnett.

Now, I think this is a bit excessive.  After all, are you seriously trying to tell me that old ref, with the big old baldhead, actually used enough force to hurt Barnett?  I doubt it.

Snow, cold and wind were no hindrance to the Bears utter destruction of the Packers this weekend. Even though they were playing a cold weather friendly team, they managed an unbelievable blowout victory. It was very unexpected due to the Packers actually becoming better since the last time the two teams met this year.

It's been noted numerously the suspicious nature of professional athletes. Perhaps after Sunday's loss, Tony Romo will stop inviting celebrity girlfriends to Texas Stadium when hosting the Philadelphia Eagles. After Carrie Underwood, of American Idol fame, witnessed the Cowboys lose to the lowly Eagles last season, Romo found new depths of suckitude to display for current love interest Jessica Simpson.

--Should the packers go to the Super Bowl, linebacker Nick Barnett won't be distracted by any legal matters.

A trial in Outagamie County (Wis.) Circuit Court for Barnett, who was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct for an alleged incident at a bar in June, was postponed from a scheduled start date of Jan. 29. A pretrial hearing will be held March 4.

A simple slant pattern to his favorite receiver gave Brett Favre yet another record in a milestone season. It's been a pretty big year for the Green Bay Packers, too, who clinched a first-round playoff bye Sunday. Farve is on point, passing the Rams the packers take another win for all of you Packer fans. Favre threw for 227 yards and two touchdowns, not bad. Packers are 12-2 not a bad record. Packers will be definetly on the way to the playoffs. When Favre set the record on a seven-yard toss to Donald Driver on the Packers' first drive of the fourth quarter, he had thousands of fans rooting for him, with flashbulbs popping from every corner of the stadium.
